What to expect…

At your first session Dr. Wooster, PT will listen with compassion to your story and understand your health concerns. Through a thorough review of your pregnancy, birth & health history and physical assessment we will discover the root causes of your symptoms. By understanding the root causes of symptoms, blockages to health will be lifted. Together we will determine a plan of action to achieve your goals. You will be empowered to achieve these goals with the knowledge about what is particularly going on with your body. You will leave the first session with home exercises to do and ways to implement changes to your daily life.

What is telehealth PT?

It is amazing how much you can learn over a telehealth (industry name for phone or video) PT session! After the introductory intake and health history (see above), through a video appointment Dr. Wooster, PT will assess your posture, observe functional daily movements, understand what’s going with your body to be able to prescribe specific exercises for you. We will talk about pregnancy specifics, birth preparation, and postpartum recovery techniques. We will demonstrate and assure proper carryover of manual techniques to perform on yourself (self massage (scars, pelvic floor, bowels, muscles), foam rolling, tennis ball trigger point release). Some additional talking points may include sleeping hygiene and position, stress management and importance on the physical body, nutrition and supplements, urinary and digestive health, advancement of exercises, and goal planning. Telehealth is performed over a HIPAA secure connection in the convenience of your home!

Do you file with insurance?

Yes! I do file with Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance. This insurance has the highest reimbursement rate out of all insurances, and in the state of Texas is a common insurance. All other insurances do not offer me enough reimbursement to provide one-on-one personalized care.

I welcome cash payments! See scheduling for pricing. I do offer a perinatal package in which you may purchase 4 PT sessions for $500. Please see my appointment scheduling link for pricing and other options for private yoga sessions, private birth preparation, and other classes.

Do I need to have an internal vaginal or rectal assessment?

The short answer is no. Dr. Wooster will unlikely perform an internal exam during your first session. Dr. Wooster, PT believes in building rapport with a client and examining external features before performing an internal exam. Internal vaginal and rectal assessment and treatment are performed only by speciality trained physical therapists. When an internal exam is warranted, you are in control in the exam room. An internal exam and treatment lasts up to 15 minutes, and is no more uncomfortable than an exam with a speculum. However, there is always another means to assess tissue and strength besides internally.

Do I need a prescription to start physical therapy?

In the state of Texas you do NOT need a prescription to start physical therapy. You may schedule a PT evaluation (click here!) without a prescription. However, to continue physical therapy after 10 days from the evaluation we will need to obtain a prescription from a midwife (CNM), MD, DO, DC, NP, PA, DPM, or DDS.
